What I see

We were driving along the roads of Quiapo til EspaƱa (til we finally reached QC from Manila) yesterday and really, it was kind of depressing. There was poverty everywhere. Well, that's no surprise, but I wonder what goes through other people's minds whenever they encounter that. Shanties along railroad tracks, dilapidated buildings, homeless men building some tent made of plastic and whatnot on the sidewalk...

I'm amazed at photographers who manage to find beauty in slums and captures it in heartwarming photographs.

I don't know if it's the four years of Ateneo education or something else in me that feels responsible for doing something about all this sadness. Yet, responsible sounds so martyr-esque, and martyrdom is not exactly something I'm vying for. I guess it's like what Ghandi says: be the change you want to see in the world.

After much thought (it was a very long car ride), I realized that the reason why photographers can find beauty in such areas is because it already exists there. God is already there. Love is already there even before someone decided to do anything about it.

Couch Potato: My official job description for the past couple of weeks
My latest time killer: Prison Break. I can't get enough of the series. And it isn't only because the lead actor is so hot (that is an understatement). The story is great, fast-paced, and it makes my heart beat faster.

I just had to say that.
